Capa Grand Prize Hungary 2021 – Public Presentations and Awards Ceremony

On the occasion of the 108th anniversary of the birth of Robert Capa, the eponym of the Robert Capa Centre for Contemporary Photography, we cordially invite you to the public presentation and awards ceremony of the Capa Grand Prize Hungary.

Date: October 21, 2021, from 3pm and 6pm
Venue: Capa Center
Free submission.
Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by adult supervision.

PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS

The three fellows selected last year will give a public presentation to the jury on their work over the past year. The event will be held in English (without interpretation). During the presentations the accompanying exhibition of the three artists’ will be on view in the Project Room of the Capa Centre.

 • Róbert László Bácsi: Nagorno-Karabakh – Missing Generations
 • Éva Szombat: I Want Orgasms, Not Roses
 • Balázs Turós: The Nature of Things

OPENING, AWARDS CEREMONY

Based on the afternoon presentations, the jury will award the Capa Grand Prize Hungary to one of the three fellows – for the sixth time. The award ceremony will also be the opening of the exhibition of the three fellows.

At the same time, the three incoming fellows for next year’s Capa Grand Prize 2022 will be announced.

Greetings by: Orsolya Kőrösi, managing director of the Capa Center and István Virágvölgyi, secretary of the Capa Grand Prize Hungary.
The event will be held in Hungarian without interpretation.

 

The jury will attend both the presentations and the awards ceremony, of which this year’s members are:

 • Claudia Küssel independent curator, art historian
 • Kateryna Radchenko curator, photographer, photography researcher, founding director of Odesa Photo Days festival (Ukraine)
 • Anna-Kaisa Rastenberger chief curator of The Finnish Museum of Photography, professor (Finland)
 • Karin Rehn-Kaufmann art director and chief representative of Leica Galleries International, organiser of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award (Austria)
 • Szatmári Gergely DLA, associate professor at MATE Rippl-Rónai Art Institute, head of the MA program, president of the jury
