Night of Museums

Are you close enough? A selection of contact sheets of the legendary Magnum Photos agency has been presented at Capa Center, related to which guided tours are led at the Nights of Museums in Hungarian language. An award winner creation of the Hungarian film director, Árpád Sopsits will be on screen twice during the night that was inspired by the shots of Robert Capa. Capa Center joins the mass memorial event organized by OSA Archive Budapest on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Holocaust which is registered as Hungarian Holocaust Memorial Year.

Programme:

6 pm Three Encounters lecture and photo presentation by Károly Kincses, photomuseologist
Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center is based at Nagymező street No.8., which is one of the still remained 1600 building throughout Budapest that were compelled to be indicated by yellow star ordered by the statues discriminated Jews in 1944. Capa Center commemorates the Hungarian Holocaust Memorial Year by the appeal of the OSA Archive Budapest by the following programme:
First encounter: Fragments of the collection of Magdolna Kolta
Second encounter: Pál Kis the photographer from next street
Third encounter: Seeking the Rightous One – Raoul Wallenberg by the image of secondary school students

From 7 pm and 10 pm Guided tour in Hungarian in the exhibition Magnum Contact Sheets
Three collections provided by Magnum Photos can be seen at Capa Center and Mai Manó House in Nagymező street, the promenade of photography in Budapest. Walk along Nagymező street and visit both institutions to get the unique experience.

From 9 pm and 11pm Film screening Árpád SOPSITS (HU): Militiaman Reloaded, Variations and sketches of the shot: Loyalist Militiaman at the Moment of Death by Robert Capa
A call titled Capa Project – Contemporary Projected Pictures had been announced before Capa Center opened. A selection of the awarded and nominated entries submitted were presented at Capa Centre’s first exhibition last December. The creation of Soart Theatre and Film Ltd. received special prize at the competition. Night of Museums is the rare occasion to watch the film as it hasn’t been on since the debut.
