OUR POSSIBLE FUTURES – FUTURES PechaKucha & roundtable discussion

Date: 26 October 2022, Wednesday, 17.30
Venue: Capa Center / STUDIO
Free admission.

How can an aspiring photographer shape their own career? What are the best networking practices in the European scene? How can self-conscious people also thrive in the artistic environment? How can artificially created photography platforms like FUTURES help? What other forms of self-management are there? What role can institutions such as the Capa Centre or other members of the professional network built by FUTURES play in the creation of individual careers? Is this taught anywhere? What is the formula?

Krisztina Maróy, editor-in-chief of GLAMOUR magazine, asked the creators (Benedek Bognár, Andi Gáldi Vinkó, Hanna Rédling, János Szabó R. and Sári Zagyvai) who participated in the FUTURES programme mediated by the Capa Center.

Before the talk, during the first half hour of the evening, the photographers will give an introduction show: with 20 images in 6 minutes and 40 seconds, they will talk about their creative approach, their way of thinking, their relationship to photography, their workshop trips, their successes and difficulties, and of course what they are thinking about and how their current project is going, which can be viewed in a longer version on the FUTURES online platform and in the lobby of the Capa Center.

Operating since 2017, the Futures platform aims to draw attention to Europe’s emerging photographers. Co-funded by the Creative Europe program of the European Union, Futures is a platform that provides opportunities for creation and publication, as well as mobility for hundreds of artists on an international level. Every year, the institutions connected to the professional network of Futures select emerging photographers who are nominated to join the platform. The professional curatorial network offered by the platform makes it possible for each selected ‘Futures talent’ to reach relevant professionals, players in the art market, and the general public in a broader sense. Being included in the Futures program is a certificate of artistic quality and expands the artist’s opportunities for success.

The FUTURES talents nominated by the Capa Center in 2022:
Benedek Bognár, Andi Gáldi Vinkó, Hanna Rédling, János Szabó R., Sári Zagyvai
