André Kertész (1894–1985), the world-famous photographer, was born 125 years ago in Budapest. The Robert Capa Contemporary Photo Center evokes his fi gure and unique oeuvre with a special, publicspace installation. One half of the space casts a very original light on the life of the artist who was born as Andor Kertész: his life story is conjured with a photo selection up on a 12-square meter illuminated photo wall, while a similarly bold and novel mode of presentation has been chosen for one of his iconic artworks, the photo of a man swimming underwater. The open-air installation also provides an opportunity to create imaginative photos: in a space fitted out in the style of a Paris flat in Kertész’s time, anyone can make a selfie version of the artist’s Satiric Dancer.
