As it is well-known, the Capa Center is located on the first floor of the building originally designed by Ernst Lajos at 8 Nagymező Street, and the Tivoli Cinema – located on the ground floor of the same building and staying empty for two years – can be taken in lease according to the decision of the General Assembly of Budapest on 30 June. The Capa Center will pay a reduced rental fee of HUF 1 100 000 + VAT per month for the 808 square metre property according to the resolution of the General Assembly of Budapest.
The professional objective of the Capa Center is the reunification of the property at 8 Nagymező Street, creating a visual institute unique in Central Europe. Besides the exhibition hall on the first floor, an art-nouveau reception hall and an auditorium for about 150 persons on the ground floor would serve functions of education, international master courses, as a projection room for moving and still pictures, as well as a site for evenings presenting other arts. The Capa Center, as a special institute of contemporary art attracting young people would enrich the cultural image of Budapest.
