CAPA GRAND PRIZE
Photography Grand Prize founded by the Capa Center with prizes totalling HUF 5 million
The Robert Capa Photography Grand Prize Hungary has been founded as a new award by the Robert Capa Center of Contemporary Photography with prizes totalling HUF 5 million. The Capa Grand Prize will be awarded every year to Hungarian or foreign artists living in Hungary who demonstrate outstanding achievements in the field of Hungarian photography.
The Capa Grand Prize will be awarded through a contest where not only individuals but small groups of artists may also enter. The Capa Center would like to emphasize its commitment and support to creating works of art that enrich our society by founding this prize.
In the first phase of the contest, three fellowships will be awarded by the jury of seven renowned independent Hungarian and international professionals to three of the contenders who will receive HUF 500 000 each. In the second phase of the contest, the winner of the Capa Grand Prize who will receive HUF 3 500 000 more will be selected by the jury from the three fellowship holders.
The first Robert Capa Photography Grand Prize Hungary will be awarded by the institute on 22 October 2015, on the 102nd anniversary of Robert Capa’s birth to a photographer who demonstrate an outstanding achievement.
