INSPERA BODRUM CULTURE ART – ART SPACE Hosts Hungarian Photographers with the “Breaking the Waves” Exhibition!
The “Breaking the Waves” group exhibition, which addresses the global water crisis and drought issues with the participation of Hungarian photographers, will be at INSPERA BODRUM – ART SPACE between February 5 – 25, 2025!
INSPERA BODRUM which opened in 2024, has become Bodrum Ortakent’s new hub for culture and arts. Throughout the year, it hosts a variety of national and international events, including art exhibitions, talks, concerts, and workshops at its art academy, alongside food and beverage spaces. While the INSPERA FOYER exhibition hall hosts the famous Hungarian photographer Milan Radisics, the „Breaking the Waves” exhibition, featuring the works of six Hungarian photographers, is on display at the INSPERA ART SPACE.
The exhibition, which consists of a selection of six photographers who have traced water and drought in various parts of the world, brings together the works of András Zoltai, László Végh, Márton Kállai, Róbert László Bácsi, Zoltán Molnár and Zsolt Balázs under the curatorship of Katalin Kopin. This photography exhibition, which will be held with the support of the Hungarian Consulate and Capa Center, will meet its audience at INSPERA KULTUR ART in Bodrum after Budapest – Capa Center and Istanbul – T aksim Sanat. An ‘artist talk’ with one of the participant artists, Márton Kállai, and the curator Katalin Kopin will also take place at INSPERA as part of the exhibition. Throughout February, the exhibition will be visited by children and young art lovers with a guide as part of the INSPERA “School Days” organization.
From the Curator Katalin Kopin’s text:
The photo essays depict our current relationship with water, while also showcasing the history of the places captured and offering insight into their future development. The exhibition features images from faraway places such as Nicaragua, the island of Majuli, Brazil, Turkey, and various European countries, and also focuses on our immediate surroundings, the landscapes and waters of Transcarpathia and Hungary. The various series outline issues such as erosion control, the water demand for native plant cultivation, the ecological footprint of water use, the consequences of unsustainable mining, the environmental impact of drying natural water bodies, and the unforeseeable consequences of river regulation. Alongside these issue-based themes, the images also speak to how humans are part of nature: how they interact with it, blend into it, or resist it, and how they enjoy or suffer from the gifts and opportunities that nature offers.
