In January this year, the Photojournalists’ Section of the National Association of Hungarian Journalists once again announced its annual competition, inviting photographers to submit the images they considered their best work produced in 2025. Entries had to consist of photographs taken between 1 January and 31 December 2025. The only exception was for long-term, multi-year documentary projects, although these also had to include photographs taken in 2025. A total of 258 photographers submitted 2,355 entries comprising 6,196 photographs to the 44th Hungarian Press Photo Competition. The images were judged by an international jury through a four-round selection process.

A Kovalovszky Dániel fényképein, Hugyecsek Balázs installációján, Hugyecsek Balázs és Müller Rolf filmjein, továbbá a kiállított tárgyakban csakis a jelent láthatjuk. E jelenbéli objektumok azonban mégiscsak a múltat akarják birtokba venni, azaz mégiscsak a múltra vonatkoztatva fogadjuk be azokat: az ajtót úgy nézzük, mintha mögötte egy akkori fogda tárulna fel.
